In order to have a team and meets, many volunteers are needed. Being a volunteer in swim team related activities can get you involved with the swimmers, have fun and show support for the whole team. There are a number of activities that require volunteers.
Each family will be required to work a minimum of 4 meets in one of the following capacities. We absolutely have to have volunteers to run a meet.
Announcer (1): Use a microphone to make timely announcements and descriptions of upcoming races. Helps to ensure the meet runs smoothly.
Starter (1): This position ensures that there will be a fair start for each swimmer. Also keeps the meet running in a timely fashion. One should be a stroke/turn judge before becoming a starter.
Stroke Judge (2): Responsibilities include thorough know how of the strokes and rules, coupled with fair and consistent application of them.
Timing System (2): Operate computer-timing system in a timely manner to keep the meet running smoothly.
Scorekeepers (3): Tabulate the results of each race, track each event and keep a running total of the score. When time permits, this information will then be logged into the computer.
Timers (10): Will use a stopwatch to time each swimmer in your assigned lane. Timers then record the information on a card which is them sent to the scorekeepers via the runner.
Bullpen (3): Organizing/lining up swimmers for each event. Patience is a must.
Runner (2): Will walk from the scorekeepers table to the timers to deliver and pick up the swimmers card for each event.
Concession Stand (2): Help setting up and operating the concession stand.
Don’t be shy! We have a very supportive team family and will be more than happy to train and guide all volunteers! THANK YOU!
